Remote Spirit Releasement Therapy
by William J. Baldwin, D.D.S., Ph.D.
During the Spiritualist era, Dr. Carl Wickland (1924) facilitated the release of many lost spirits through the mediumship of his wife, Anna. Several friends would form a circle around Mrs. Wickland. She would enter the trance state and Dr. Wickland would call out to the spirit attached to the identified patient who would be seated in an adjacent room. The spirit would take control of Mrs. Wickland’s body and mind and the conversation would begin. From that point the process was similar to the spirit releasement therapy procedures presented here. Much of the present methodology was derived from Wickland’s work.
In Brazil, remote spirit releasement is conducted routinely at the healing centers run by the Medical Spiritist Association; of Sao Paulo (Krippner, 1986, pp. 3-81; Rogo, 1987, pp. 219-241). The work is done without charge. The work of disobsession, as it is called, is conducted by a group of six mediums. Four of the people sit in a circle facing a fifth at the center. A sixth person acts as facilitator. A doctor or a family member can send the name and address of an afflicted person. The facilitator calls out for the spirit interfering with the identified patient. That spirit incorporates, or enters into, the medium in the center of the circle. Reminiscent of the work of Mesmer, the facilitator makes magnetic passes with the hand over the person, from the head downward, about six inches to a foot from the body. The spirit is expelled and apparently guided to its appropriate destination.
Ethics of Remote Spirit Releasement
Human beings are creatures of free will. This includes the right to pursue the spiritual path designed in the planning stage in the Light prior to incarnating. This path often includes the possibility of certain illnesses and disease conditions. There is always an emotional element in any physical condition, often it is the residue of a past-life conflict. In this way the disease has the potential for offering spiritual learning and the balance of karma. If a healer treats a condition he becomes part of the karmic balancing; he must contribute to the learning process of the body (Bruyere, 1989). The healer participates with the person who suffers the illness. Remote healing – that is, healing a condition at a distance without the knowledge and permission of the person receiving the healing – interferes with the learning potential and violates the free will of the person being healed.
Spirit attachment, except in rare cases, is not part of the Life Plan for a being. The earthbound spirits do not participate in the planning stage in the Light. If they were in the Light, they would not be earthbound. The client who seeks assistance for a problem gives tacit consent for therapeutic work by attending a session with the therapist. Remote spirit releasement – that is, releasing attached spirits from someone not present in the treatment room – constitutes healing at a distance. If the person has not requested the work and has not given permission for the releasement, there is a possibility of violation of free will. For this reason the remote spirit releasement is always preceded by a request to High Self for permission to proceed. The response is perceived in some manner by the client before the process continues.
An attached spirit can influence the attitudes, behavior, choices and decisions of a person. In this way the free will is already violated by the intruding spirit. Such a spirit can influence a person to refuse the offer of a releasement through another person and prevent the afflicted person from working directly with a therapist trained in these methods. The successful remote spirit releasement allows a person to be returned to the path of free will choice. In the case of the aggressive, intrusive dark entities, the free will is clearly violated. No permission is requested for the removal of these.
Most people would call the police if they observed burglars attempting forcible entry into a neighbor’s house. It is an extension of this attitude and thinking which justifies the remote releasement work without the express permission of the person involved.
Indications for Remote Spirit Releasement
More women than men participate in this therapy. Women are more open to the spiritual dimension of life, and usually more able to freely and willingly allow another being to speak through their voice, that is, to become the medium. The caution is given to refuse permission to any entities to approach or to use the body or voice in any way. The woman who volunteers for this service can usually hear and see the entities and repeat their thoughts and words clearly. This is a safer form of mediumship or transmitting, a process of conscious channeling.
A woman may describe problems in her family which include alcoholism in the husband, unacceptable behavior in the young children, drug use or antisocial behavior by a teenager heavy into rock music. An aging parent might exhibit erratic behavior following surgery, or a loved one might be hospitalized and unable to attend a session. These people might not be willing to consider a session.
In the dysfunctional family, therapy must include the whole system to be maximally effective. Spirit releasement therapy is a necessary part of a total therapeutic approach to individual therapy, couples counseling or family therapy. If the wife or mother in such a family is the only person willing to pursue this therapy, remote spirit releasement is indicated.
If a woman wants to attempt a remote spirit releasement on her husband just because of his nasty disposition, or a husband wants a session on his wife because of her nagging, this is not a valid approach. The remote work is done as an act of unconditional love, almost as a last resort in some cases. The remote spirit releasement is done for the benefit of the target person, not for selfish reasons of the person acting as the connecting link, the medium.
Mediumship and channeling have been studied and extensively described. It is the consensus that the message from the spirit control is filtered through the mind of the channel and altered in varying degrees, depending on the belief system of the channel and the level of language ability. This is not necessarily deliberate on the part of the channel; it is a function of the mechanism.
In photographic technique, optical filters of different characteristics are placed over the lens to create certain effects on the final photograph. Sound output from a stereo system will vary, depending on the quality of the speakers. Transmission from spirit can be in distinctly spoken words, it can also be in telepathic thoughts or non-verbal concepts. These concepts are translated into language by the person who is channeling.
The non-hypnotic discovery techniques allow the client to remain in the fully conscious and aware state. The attitudes of the client can definitely be seen in the responses of the attached entity. This is particularly apparent when the therapist becomes more demanding and authoritative in dealing with a resistant entity and the client is an egotistic male who actively avoids any form of domination by other males.
This type of client must be led to a full awareness and acknowledgment of the presence of the attached entity as a separate being. He must disidentify with the entity. The client is directed to step back mentally and allow the entity to control the voice. This is difficult for the predominantly left-brained, strongly self-controlled person.
If this is not successful then remote spirit releasement is recommended. The client is urged to invite a female family member or acquaintance into a session to act as the intermediary.
Women tend to be more right-brained and can usually go into altered state, perceive the thoughts of the entity, and repeat the responses. Women tend to cooperate, whereas men tend to compete. The personality of the client is bypassed; the resistance is absent. The communication from the entity is not contaminated by the egotistic defenses of the client. The client can be present in the session or in some other location.
In cases of satanic cult ritual abuse, the victim/client will certainly have dark attachments. After these have been appropriately released, the remote releasement procedures can be implemented in an attempt to clear the perpetrators. This may include the family members involved in transgenerational cult activity, the leaders of the group, and other people who participated in the ritual abuse activity. The remote releasement procedures can be directed toward other victims, alive or dead, whether or not they are known to the client.
Satanic cult ritual abuse is being uncovered in many parts of the United States and other countries as well. This most hideous of human activities and the devastation caused to the victims has been well documented (Hollingsworth, 1986; Terry, 1987; Kahaner, 1988; Spencer, 1989; Friesen, 1991; Ryder, 1992).
Technique Of Remote Spirit Releasement
The person who is to act as the medium or connecting link for the remote releasement must first be cleared of her own spirit attachments. The channel is then more available to work on the target person. The remote work might be the primary focus of a session or the need might develop during a session. Attached earthbounds are often aware of other earthbounds attached to other members of the family. There might be a system or sub-family of entities acting through the bodies and minds of the family members. Demonic entities are usually involved in dark networks with specific targets such as women, couples or extended families. In altered state the client can usually perceive these connections quite readily.
Whether the remote work is the focus of the session or part of direct personal work, the client is directed to visualize the target person face to face.
T: “Look into the eyes of (the target person) Can you see the eyes?”
C: “No, he is turning away from me.”
T: “Call to him, ask him to look at you.”
C: “Good, he is looking this way.”
T: “Look deep into the eyes. Can you feel the connection?”
Often the client will move in the recliner, even twitch or jerk slightly. This indicates the moment of connecting psychically with the other person.
T: “I call for High Self permission to proceed with this work. What do you sense as an answer, yes or no?”
The client will usually describe a feeling of warmth, a smile on the face of the other person, a nod of the head, a shout of “YES” from the other, even a written message that reads “YES.” Rarely does the response come back as “NO.”
T: “Look deep into the eyes of the other. Is there something there? Something else there? Is there something else looking out the eyes? Is there another face superimposed on his? Are there any other faces hovering around his head? What do you sense, what do you perceive?”
The client may describe other eyes looking out from his eyes or from behind his eyes. There may be a dim outline of another face over his like a transparent mask. There may be other faces hovering close by.
It is essential for the client acting as the intermediary in the remote work to refuse permission for these entities to come in and take control of her body or voice. This is especially true for the dark ones who will be more intrusive and aggressive. They want to come in and take over. Unfortunately, they don’t want to leave after they get in.
It is important for the client to establish this boundary, to pronounce the refusal at this time.
C: “I do not give you permission to approach me. I refuse you permission to enter my body or use my voice. I do not give you permission to touch me or influence me in any way. I will repeat your words.”
T: “Do not touch her body in any way. She will repeat your words. I call out to the one looking out from behind his eyes. Step forward. What is the first thing you want to say to us?” “I call out to the one in charge here. I call out to the strong one with this man. The one in charge, what’s your name?” “I call out to the one who likes the alcohol.” “I call out to the one with (the person’s name) who likes the drugs.” “I call out to the one who (descriptor of the problem).”
This will usually elicit a response from the designated spirit. The descriptor can be any problem or condition afflicting the target person as outlined by the client.
The client takes responsibility for continuing the visualization of filling and surrounding the other person with the Sealing Light Meditation (see below). When the process is complete, the therapist calls on spiritual help for the target person.
T: “We call on the High Self to descend into the body of this one, and to remain and assist as the healing and integration continue. We ask the Healing Angels to touch into this person to heal what can be healed, to restore to wholeness that which is damaged. We call on the Warrior Angels of Light to walk with this one in the days and years of his life, to guard against any further intrusion of dark spirits. We ask this in the name of the Light.”
It is highly recommended that the spirit releasement work be done personally and directly with the afflicted person. It is usually more effective and lasting if the person takes responsibility with full knowledge for the choice to do the work, and to do the necessary healing work after the release work is finished. In situations such as those described here, the work can be done in the name of love and compassion, for peace and harmony within the family. It is God’s work. If it is not appropriate in the larger spiritual framework, the healing or releasement will have no effect.
Posthumous Remote Spirit Releasement
Katherine scheduled a session for past-life therapy. She wanted to uncover any past lives which were interfering with her present experience. Her 21-year-old daughter, Julie, had died three months earlier in a traffic accident. She had been riding on a motorcycle with her boyfriend. Julie had been living at home and had a 2-1/2-year-old child. Katherine had adopted her little granddaughter, knowing that Julie was not financially or emotionally capable of caring for the child. Julie had always been a problem for Katherine: unruly, defiant, and generally unpleasant.
The exploration of past lives was significant for Katherine. The process led to the planning stage for the present life. She examined the planned personal interactions with significant other people in her coming life. When she came to Julie, her face contorted, her voice tightened.
C: “She just came in to irritate me. She just came in to make my life harder. Ooooh, she came to be like a burr under a saddle.”
This sort of interaction is often for the benefit of the one who feels like the victim. It can be a spiritual lesson in patience, forgiveness and a balancing for prior-life injustices. This realization would normally prompt the exploration of the connecting lifetimes involved. In this case this possible avenue was not pursued. Her focus suddenly shifted to a viewpoint above and behind Julie and her boyfriend on the motorcycle just before the fatal accident. It was as though she were riding in a traffic helicopter describing the scene.
C: “Oh God, I can see them. If there is anything to this possession stuff, there is a big black thing on her back. It’s making her tell her boyfriend to pass the truck they are following. He’s doing it. Oh my God, there’s a car coming. OH MY GOD, THEY JUST CRASHED!”
Katherine was shaken by this imagery, but she continued the narrative.
C: “She’s floating here with this black thing dug into her back. It’s always been with her. I remember watching her one time when she hit her brother. She was sitting down in a chair and I saw her literally propelled out of the chair. She didn’t just stand up, she was lifted out of the chair and she landed on her feet. She ran over to him and just hit him. I watched the whole thing. She looked at me afterward with such a pitiful expression on her face. She cried to me that she hadn’t done it. Now I know she was right.”
T: “I call on the Mighty Rescue Spirits of Light to surround this black thing in a capsule of light. Remove this thing to its appointed place in the Light. They will be gentle with her, Katherine.”
C: “No they’re not. They’re ripping it off her and they’re racing off in the other direction. Oh, she looks so sad. She’s looking at me.”
T: “I call on the Mercy Band of Rescue Angels from the Light. Here is a lost soul, she needs help.”
C: “There is a man in a white suit. He looks kind. He says he can help her.”
This was a true guiding spirit from the Light. Katherine and her daughter Julie spoke with each other and quickly reached a mutual understanding and forgiveness. This was a beautiful healing, long overdue for these two women. They completed their communication.
T: “Julie, we send you to the Light, with love. Farewell.”
Some time after the session, Katherine reported that her adopted child had suddenly improved in her behavior. She had been manifesting the “terrible twos.” That eased considerably. There was no exploration of the connection of Julie with her daughter, but perhaps there had been some influence. Katherine was much happier in her life.
Posthumous remote releasement seems to have a religious equivalent. Biblical scholars have long puzzled over the following verse: “Now what of those people who are baptized for the dead? What do they hope to accomplish?” (The Bible, 1 Corinthians 15:29). Part of the baptism ritual is a minor exorcism. In the Mormon faith, members can be baptized for the dead with the intention of clearing the sins of those who can no longer do it for themselves. It is a presumptuous yet compassionate act.
Sealing Light Meditation
There is a guided meditation for the client that is very important [after a spirit or spirits are cleared] to fill the space left by the departing being or beings. Even though it is a non-physical space, a palpable emptiness is left and must be filled. If the client does not take responsibility for the filling of this space, the emptiness is a natural magnet for other lost souls. They will be more than happy to fill this void.
T: “Imagine now, begin to visualize, deep within your chest, a brilliant point of light. It is your connection with the Light, your connection with Source. (pause) See this light expand into your whole body, feel the energy flow through your entire body, down into your legs, out into your arms, filling your head. (pause) Imagine now that the light is expanding out past the boundaries of your body, outside your physical form, expanding out about an arm’s length in front of you, an arm’s length behind you, an arm’s length on either side of you, as high as you can reach above your head and down beneath your feet. (pause) See and feel this light now, lovingly, protectingly, comfortably surrounding you like a large egg-shaped bubble of light. (pause) Sparkling through the bubble of light now, begin to imagine bits of emerald green, the color of the energy of healing, and bits of rose pink, the color of the energy of love. (pause) Every cell of your body has its own intelligence and will use this healing energy for the highest good of the entire organism. (pause) This cocoon of Light does not interfere with the expression of love, as you love others, or the experience of love, as others love you. (pause) Take a few moments several times a day for the next few weeks and repeat to yourself this meditation. Repeat this meditation of Light when you awaken and before you go to sleep. Take a few seconds every time you feel tired or unhappy. Do it every time you feel happy and when you smile. See and feel this light every time you breathe. Soon it will be with you permanently. This is your continued protection. Take another deep breath of light now and begin to come back into your body. Completely back into your body. Reconnect your consciousness with every cell of your physical body. Take control, take charge of your own body. When you are ready to open your eyes into your own regular state of consciousness, you can do that. Another deep breath of light now and come back.”
