The Astral World

The-Astral-World-main-4-post-1by Yogi Ramacharaka

In this lesson on the Astral World, we will be compelled to deal in generalities instead of going into minute and careful descriptions such as would be needed in a work taking up the “higher-grade” work. Instead of endeavoring to describe just what a “plane” is, and then going on to point out the nice little differences between “planes” and “sub-planes” we shall treat the whole subject of the higher planes of existence under the general term of “The Astral World,” making that term include not only the lower divisions of the Astral Plane, but also some of the higher planes of life. This plan may be objected to by some who have followed other courses of reading on the subject, in which only the lower Astral Plane has been so styled, the higher planes receiving other names, which has led many to regard the Astral Plane with but scanty consideration reserving their careful study for the higher planes. But we ask these persons to remember that many of the ancient occultists classed the entire group of the upper planes (at least until the higher spiritual planes were reached) under the general term “The Astral World,” or similar terms, and we have the best of authority for this general division. There is as much difference between the lowest astral planes and the highest mental or spiritual planes, as there is between a gorilla and an Emerson, but in order to keep the beginner from getting lost in a wilderness of terms, we have treated all the planes above the physical under the general style of “The Astral World.” (more…)

Our Ultimate Journey Home

Our-Ultimate-Journey-Home-main-2-postWhere do enlightened people go when they die?

By Jurgen Ziewe

Generally, people who have researched the subject of life after death in some depth, will find that our afterlife may simply be a world very much like ours, hopefully prettier, less challenging with bonuses attached, like the freedom from the decay of a physical body and no need to struggle for survival. Indeed there are dimensional levels which are indistinguishable from earth, but for people, whose life has been carried on a positive note, who have lived primarily via a giving heart, will see all of their secret wishes materializing or at least they will been given the opportunity to make their wishes come true. These Astral levels are designed by nature to settle our unfulfilled desires and harmonize our negative energies, but they are by no means the pinnacle of our existence.

Some less informed people imagine that once we step over the threshold of death we will enter immediately into the eternal light of God and unite with our creator by default, regardless of the life we have led or the character we have indulged in. The reality is that all unsettled energies will need to be dealt with, all misdeeds balanced out and understood, all our needs, drives and wishes will need to be addressed and their inner energies exhausted. Even after all this has taken place however there are no guarantees that we will not be attracted to another round into physical flesh or any other part in the material or non material universe. Going Into The Light

Going Into The Light-main-4-postby Jurgen Ziewe

What does it mean, “Going into the Light”?

This is an expression frequently used by people when referring to the process of dying, but where does it come from?

A while back we discussed in a group of Astral Travellers the subject of the boundaries of human consciousness and the phenomena of “going into the light”. In after-death circles this is often used as a metaphor of going into the lighter, more sublime, beautiful regions of the “Summer Land”, after we shake off ‘our mortal coil’. What turned into a lengthy discussion, we considered though the more literal aspect of the phenomena; of travelling beyond the boundaries of human consciousness or the “mere” afterlife states often discussed in afterlife groups. The Case For Out-Of-Body Experiences ~ Part II

OBE-II-main-2-postby Preston Dennett

Joan Hartmann

In 1999, Joan Hartmann (2001) of Florida spontaneously experienced a typical OBE during which she floated about her room. She found the experience very pleasant and decided to try it again. A few days later, Hartmann attempted to initiate an OBE. She was successful and allegedly her attempts also resulted in a physical levitation episode.

I had an out-of-body experience. I spontaneously popped out of my body and hung out up in a corner of the bedroom but didn’t know what to do, so I just looked down at my body and that of my sleeping husband. After about fifteen seconds, I snapped back into my body. I thought this was really cool and tried to repeat it. A few days later, it happened again, only this time, I watched my body actually levitate off the bed before I snapped right back. (more…)

The Case For Out-Of-Body Experiences ~ Part I

OBE-main-4-postby Preston Dennett

The central question pertaining to the phenomenon of out-of-body travel is:  Is it real? While some ask this question out of scientific curiosity, those who have had out-of-body experiences (OBEs) themselves ask it because of a vital need to find out what is happening to them. Are they going crazy or are they truly travelling out of their body? This need can be so great that it becomes the primary goal of novice explorers. I know this is true because it happened to me.

Following the death of my mother in 1984, I developed an interest in dreams. This led to an interest in lucid dreaming and out-of-body exploring. After discovering Robert Monroe’s (1971) book, ‘Journeys out of the Body’, I began my own extensive forays of the non-physical dimensions. I say this because I am writing about a subject that is not only of great interest to me, it is something I have experienced myself. I went through the period of doubt and fear that nearly every new OBEr must navigate. And I moved beyond it to enjoy many of the benefits of ‘astral travel’, including meeting deceased loved ones, visiting with spirit guides, learning about past lives, rescuing lost souls, visiting the higher dimensions and more. Multidimensional Man: Super Dimensional Excursion

Superdimensional-Excursion-main-4-postby Jurgen Ziewe

“Take me to the Cities!”

This is an excerpt of a recent Super Dimensional excursion. The initiation to the experience was extremely personal and started hours before whilst I was shopping. I feel somewhat reluctant to share it at this point, as I feel the circumstances may distract from the facts about the super dimensions I am trying to explore and convey.

10th September 2011

“….I was floating through a green valley along a river. Its banks were lined with lush vegetation merging from beds of pure colors rising like morning mists into the air. These in turn transformed into gentle symmetrical shapes, morphing patterns of incredible beauty and complexity. The river valley was lined with steep translucent rock- like flint or amber, its colors affected by the subtle changes of the atmosphere and mutating through different hues. The rock, which turned out to be not like rock at all, sprouted gossamer protrusions which waved in the air and gently fell down and rose up again at the river banks as if stirred by a celestial wind. I marveled at the sublime complexity and the synchronized display around me. It all felt as if it was made to play tribute to me, a traveling point of awareness. (more…)
