Synopsis of Lesson III of Tempus Procedium by Ernest L. Norman
To understand the intricacies of human existence, it can be helpful to look at the world through the lens of electronics, specifically the way a human being functions as a sophisticated electronic instrument. Just as modern science has identified parallels between various devices and biological processes, we can see that the human life process is fundamentally similar to the operation of a television set or an audio-amplifier. The way we interact with our environment is essentially a matter of stimulation; third-dimensional sensations are picked up by the five senses, which then reactively stimulate the psychic anatomy. By looking at a familiar device like an audio-amplifier, we can gain a much more comprehensive concept of how our present moments are connected to the long history of our past lifetimes. An audio-amplifier is a relatively straightforward electronic device in its basic design, typically consisting of two or three vacuum tubes, along with a network of resistors and capacitors. These components are carefully connected and powered by a suitable source to drive a loud speaker. You can find these circuits everywhere, from the standard radio and television set to the high-fidelity systems designed for advanced musical reproduction [at the time of this publication]. The primary function of this setup is to take a relatively small electronic signal and amplify it until it has enough strength to activate the speaker. However, no amplifier is perfect; they all possess certain inherent flaws, such as a natural hum that gets amplified along with the intended signal. The tubes and various parts have their own self-resonance, which produces what is known as harmonic distortion.
Beyond simple hum, when different types of electronic signals are amplified together, they can produce intermodulation distortion. If these distortions are high enough, the amplifier becomes almost useless for its intended purpose. There is, however, a very curious phenomenon used to solve this: feedback. If a portion of the amplified signal is taken from the output and returned to the “front end” or input of the amplifier, but introduced “out of phase” with the incoming signals, the distortion and hum suddenly vanish. This “out of phase” feedback is exactly what allows for the high quality of modern sound. Conversely, if that same part of the signal is returned “in phase” with the input, the amplifier will begin to oscillate, and the speaker will produce a loud howl, much like a stuck car horn. Whether the system produces a clear sound or a painful howl depends entirely on the polarity of the connection where the speaker is attached.
This electronic process serves as a perfect comparison for the human experience. In this metaphor, the loud speaker represents the surface of your life – the things you say, the motions you go through, and your general outward behavior. These actions and traits did not appear out of nowhere; they began in the dim, distant past at what we might call the “input” of your existence.
Over the course of many different lifetimes, these experience quotients have been constantly amplified. As these experiences are relived across time, they gain more power and strength within the psychic anatomy. Consequently, what you are experiencing at the present moment is actually a reliving of basic patterns from your entire past, now amplified into the present.
When an individual understands the principles of reincarnation and the nature of living from life to life, they gain a unique tool for self-improvement. By engaging in a positive introspection based on this conscious knowledge, you are effectively returning a portion of your “negative present” back to your very beginning in the past. Because this is done consciously and correctly, it is returned “out of phase,” which automatically cancels out the distortions and negative patterns incurred during those previous lifetimes. This is the spiritual equivalent of the negative feedback that cleans up the sound in a high-end amplifier.
In contrast, the average person who lacks this understanding of life’s internal electronics continues to live day after day by simply amplifying the distortions and faults of their previous lives. Without the “out of phase” connection, these distortions eventually pile up to a critical point. When the system becomes too cluttered with this amplified noise, the individual may become physically or mentally incapacitated; in other words, they become sick. Often, they make their condition even worse because, through a natural frequency relationship, they unknowingly link their present distress back to the beginning of their past in an “in phase” way. This creates a loop that doubles or triples the intensity of their current problems. At this point, the person is effectively “oscillating” with their past, much like the howling speaker in a malfunctioning amplifier.
Understanding these concepts of phase relationships and the oscillating principles of the psychic anatomy is vital. A complete grasp of this science allows a person to consciously and automatically cancel out the recurring negations that appear in their daily life. This knowledge is not just about fixing the present; it is about preparing for the future. By using this understanding every day, you are essentially tearing down the old, dysfunctional past that is currently oscillating in your psychic anatomy. You are replacing that old material with new, constructive information. This process of internal restructuring is what enables a person to eventually reincarnate into a more advanced state, such as the described “Heavenly cities”.
To make the most of this, every day and every moment of consciousness should be lived with the “feedback” loop connected. This means maintaining a constant awareness that our lives are made of resurgent patterns learned in other lifetimes. These patterns include various experiences and psychic shocks that will continue to be relived over and over again until they are canceled out. For this process to be successful, the feedback must always be “out of phase” with the past. When we view the vastness of Infinity and recognize our correct personal position in the process of evolution, we become “positive”. From this positive stance, we can objectify the negative “facsimile” of our present and place it correctly in the past. This is how the actual cancellation of karma takes place, freeing the individual from those old patterns forever.
When viewing these past lives, it is also important to handle the information correctly. One should leave any past “greatness” or “goodness” alone, ensuring it isn’t smirched by the current ego. The focus of this electronic cancellation should be on past “evils” or negative patterns, as these are the elements that can overwhelm a person with apathy or ignorance if left unaddressed. The positive aspects of the past do not require this type of intervention; they will take care of themselves. By focusing on canceling the negative “in phase” oscillations, one ensures a clearer, more functional present and a constructive path toward the future.
